Summer, still?

Yes, it's still summer. To be quiet honest, we are ready for the fall to arrive and hopefully stick around for a bit. It proves to be the best season of all. You really can do anything with everything. Hold on though, before you check out for heavy parkas and thick pea coats, check out the summer sales! Every major store has to get rid of their overstock. Check Barneys, Saks, Neiman Marcus, and any other men's and women's boutiques you can. It's the best move in the book. Oh, and don't worry about your piece "going out of style"; that's just a myth for those who can't put it together. Happy shopping and savings my friends!

Simplicity

I had a really hard time writing this caption. I don't know why it was, but I couldn't find the
right words to piece this puzzle together. That's when it hit me; there is nothing. No fancy logos or
expensive designer tags. It's who she is. It's relaxed and comfortable clothing that fits her life, style, and creativity. That's what is important.

Chris, Colorado.

Yes, plaid flannel. What once was worn by woodsmen and lumberjacks is
now seen in every major city. Why you ask? We think it has something to do with it's classic tradition. It's durable and lasts and that's what we want.
Oh, and don't be afraid to throw it under a blazer (great for the fall and winter).

A beginners guide to jeans for men.

Jeans? A big deal? Yes, they are. Personally, it starts with the fit. Don't worry about
anything else from the start except the fit (I said it twice so it would sink in). Do not buy your jeans
online. You have to try them on to feel the fit. I prefer the dark wash fitted jeans that are simple. No fancy logos; the ones that are pure and simple. A couple of reasons we love dark-washed jeans:

A. They will never go out of style.
B. You can wear them with white, black, and everything between.
C. See A.

Where to buy?? No, again, not online. Go in-store and try them on. I prefer A.P.C new standard jeans.
They are super snug at first but eventually loosen up just enough. Oh, and there tough too. A quick heads up; if you're going to machine wash your jeans (only 4-5 times a year if possible),
do so with a Woolite black wash and turn them inside out. Let air dry. It will save the color.
I've linked below a couple other recommendations.

Inquiry

Myself, Neil, and Andrew recently took a tour of apartments and condos in
Over-the-Rhine. It's amazing what they have done with the spaces they
were given. Oh, and Mr. Twain; we are slowly catching up. I've linked the
site below to 3CDC. Take a look.

Our hiatus.

We apologize to our readers. Things have been very busy and our work has moved to the passenger seat. Laura has been on vacation and I have finally finished the prolonged process of moving into a beautiful new apartment. None-the-less; we will be updating our site frequently and we can’t wait to begin to show you some of our new work. Please check back often and continue to pass the word to your friends about our site. We greatly appreciate your support.
Until next time,
The Dam Siblings.

How to stand out.

A light blue button-up, dark wash jean shorts, and a pair of brogues. Nothing can go wrong here.

Denim: Not just for jeans

You will be seeing denim utility shirts hitting the streets late summer into the crisp fall days to come. It’s a perfect match with white skinny jeans or worn belted over a dress. We love the lighter color denim but would not object the dark. Whatever you do, we advise that you keep away from the "denim on denim" look. Change it up with a pair of slim khakis.

How to...

Plaid shirt, slim cut khakis, and a pair of desert boots is all you need for the dog days of summer.
Like we had mentioned before, we are ready for the fall. It's been incredibly hot out lately and the humidity does nothing for us. Oh, and don't put away those boots yet once the heat breaks. Desert boots are versatile and work through the winter.

It's No Secret..or is it?

The new J.Crew men's store is slated to open on Madison Ave. and 79th sometime between August and September. What will the decor be? Good question! The store itself is said to be a continuation of the men's stores in Soho and Tribeca- meaning a lodge/cabin rustic woodsy feel. None the less; J.Crew continues to produce quality pieces at an affordable price. We've been shopping for the fall and the collection that Frank Muytjens has put together includes the traditional quality tailored fabrics that are built to last. J.Crew's collaboration with Alden, Red Wing Boots, and Belstaff shows their ability to truly invest in what they know is best and will last. These are pieces that you pass down to your sons. We've linked their site below. Oh, and be careful, linking to their site will most likely end in a purchase of some kind; it's only natural.

Summer Shade is a Must!

Is it bad to say we're ready for the fall? Personally, layering brings out character in any ensemble. Get some shade for now with any sun hat or fedora. We've looked through a couple of sites and love Eric Javit's work. His spring/summer line is linked below!

Rag and Bone

Rag and Bone recently accepted their award for "menswear designer of the year" at the CFDA Fashion Awards at the Lincoln Center in New York. Trust me when I say this; they deserve it! Marcus Wainwright and David Neville have continued to create menswear that is perfectly tailored and well respected within the design community. To be honest, we feel as though they have a "Newsies" (you know, that movie from the early 90's) feel to their pieces. We stopped in to their Christopher St. boutiques the past week and tried on many of their summer and fall pieces.
We've linked their site below.

Soho

Walked through Soho today. Lots of good photographs on the way.
Check back for more updates as the weekend progresses. Happy 4th!

Althea Harper

Althea Harper stopped by with her Fall 2010 line. Althea showed her ability to step out of norm and truly design a line that was unique and creative. We loved the women's long sport coat. A perfect blend of colors for a cool summer night. We'll post her link below. Fall pre-orders begin now!

Summer in the City

Summer is here. Temperatures have been in the high 80's and low 90's and not budging. What to wear in this heat and not look like you just got out of high school (meaning basketball shorts and cut-off t-shirts): cotton plaid shorts, white keds, and a light weight shirt. Our friends at A.P.C make wonderful shirts and are having their summer sale (supplies will go quick!) I have posted the link below.

Men's 2011 Spring Shows

It's 10:00 in the morning here in New York, but across the pond men's shows are already taking place. For some reason, our ticket got lost in the mail (how odd..) and we were unable to attend. However, 21st century technology (yes, including the sacred IPhone) puts you right next to the likes of Anna Wintour and Scott Schuman. Burberry (streaming now), Gucci, Emporio Armani, and Giorgio Armani will all stream their shows live. I've linked GQ's Twitter account at the bottom of the page.

Notable Shows:

Saturday, June 19th

Dolce and Gabbana
Calvin Klein Collection
Versace
John Varvatos

Check with Gentleman's Quarterly throughout the day to keep up-to-date with all of the runway photographs. Next year, we will bring it to you instead (as long as our ticket makes it).
